Performing the role of Alia Bhatt's friend in Karan Johar's film 'Student Of The Year' Mansi Rachh got a chance to work with the best director during debuting her film career. Let's ask her how did she experience it?
Introduction:
In film 'Student Of The Year' I've done the role of the best friend of Shyana (Alia Bhatt) as Shruti Pathak. Shruti is a mean and clever girl who can deceive her best friend just to win the competition and she loses all her friends because this selfishness.
How did you get this film?
I received a call from Dharma production for audition just after I finished the shooting of my film 'Mujse Friendship Karoge?' They called me again for the audition next week after my first audition in which I had to perform dialogues of Shruti Pathak. I got a news than I've been chosen for this role after performing the dialogues. I was so happy that time I can't imagine how happy i was.
How did you start acting?
I worked in some dramas before 'Student Of The Year' in which famous drama is 'Walking To The Sun'. I performed the role of 11-year-old girl Amal. Drama's story was based on the story of Rabindranath Tagore's novel 'Daak Ghar'. Whereas music dramas are 'Aesa Khete Hain', 'Tragic Comedy', 'Baali Or Shamboo' and 'Confession'.
First Shot:
My first scene for 'Student Of The Year' was shot with Alia Bhatt, in which Shanya and Shruti quarrel and their friendship end. I only met Alia before this shot and now we had to perform a scene in which we are good friends and we're quarreling but I didn't feel any strangeness from Alia. We became good friend after the shot, it is my most favorite scene.
Hard Time:
I've water phobia and I have been saved from sinking in the water twice. When I was offered the role of Shruti Pathak, I felt to leave the shooting and go somewhere because Shruti is the best swimmer in the film and swimming was the important part of my role. But I decided to overcome on my fear and perform this role bravely. I learned to swim everyday before the shooting and at last I was able to swim 200 meter long without taking any break.
Lesson:
When I learned swimming so I realized that we should never give up. We have to overcome on our fear by hard work and potential.
Favorite Actor:
Vidya Balan is my favorite actor. She has achieved this honor because of hard work. She's full of acting abilities and she performs her every role very beautifully. I've not met her but I've heard she's so simple and friendly. She is the role model for me.
Upcoming Project:
My next film name is 'Charlie Ke Chakkar Mein' in which Nasruddin Shah is also included in the cast. My role is a Bengali girl name 'Naina'. This film will be released in the starting of 2014.
