SRIDEVI'S COME BACK!

SriDevi's pride is none less then the "Devi" in Bollywood industry. She was so lucky and famous in her time. Directors and producers used to walk around her for work and every actor wished to work with her. SriDevi bid farewell to acting during the period of 1980 to 1990 and got married to producer Boney Kapoor. Today, she's the mother of two beautiful daughters and having a wonderful life. But It says that an actor doesn't retire so It really happens. Sri Devi has made a come back after a long period in Bollywood. A famous film magazine interviewed her for this, which description are listed down. Let's meet her and talk about her come back in film industry and "miss hawa hawaii"  "English Vinglish" with co-stars her brother-in-law Anil Kapoor.

AFTER THE FAMOUS HIT OF FILM 'JUDAI', YOU TOOK A LONG  BREAK. WHAT WAS THE REASON THAT MADE YOUR COME BACK SO LONG?

"I didn't plan anything for this but I could be ready anytime to work in movie like "English Vinglish". If I got this offer 10 years back so I would do this film. Gauri Shinde's movie title is very impressive. I loved it idea and I grabbed this by my both hands. I felt this character and I feel like everyone will remember my "Shishi" character after watching "English Vinglish". Though, she's so emotional but she's strong from the inside. These were the reasons that made me come back in industry otherwise I didn't plan anything for this. Industry must have known that I left the industry for a good reason and If we talk about proper coming back in industry so I can't say anything about that!"

YOUR HUSBAND BONEY KAPOOR PRODUCED MANY FAMOUS MOVIES AFTER 'JUDAI', WHY DIDN'T YOU WORK IN ANY OF THESE?

"You won't believe it whenever I attended Boney's film music section or I saw prints of his movie so my deep actress wished to dance or wanted to perform. I told him twice that I wanted to dance in a song but he didn't take it seriously and I think that wasn't appropriate for me. Though, I can't challenge his opinion because he's a great filmmaker. But I like to walk on sets because that reminds me of my time."

AFTER SEEING YOUR FILM 'ENGLISH VINGLISH' PROMOS, IT SEEMS LIKE YOUR CHARACTER IS SAME AS 'JUDAI' IN 'ENGLISH VINGLISH?

"I'm so happy to know that people still remember my "Judia" character. I agree with you that both of the characters have same resemblance in clothes because I've done a role of a middle class housewife in both films. But both characters are different from each other. 'Judai's Kajal was so greedy of fame and money  whereas 'English Vinglish' shishi is a pure Indian woman for whom her respect is so important."

YOU'VE WORKED WITH THE BIG DIRECTORS, HOW DID YOU LIKE WORKING WITH NEW DIRECTOR?

"Now, working in a film has become so change and I think this is the good change. Technology has made it so easier and we're making movies on special effects whereas It wasn't like that in my time. But If we talk about characters so those haven't changed because you have to act in front of the camera. No technology can make your acting performance better because It's your own guts."

YOUR COUPLE WITH YOUR BROTHER-IN-LAW ANIL KAPOOR IS SO MUCH LIKED BY AUDIENCE. IF YOU GET A CHANCE TO WORK IN STORY LIKE 'BAGHBAN' SO WILL YOU DO IT?

"Why not! If we both are offered a character like that so we'll both do this together. I'll surely do it. For me, script is the real hero. I don't feel hesitate If story and script is excellent."

YOU'LL BE SEEN WITH AMITABH BACHCHAN AFTER A LONG TIME. ACCORDING TO AMITABH, HE SAID THAT HE ACCEPTED THIS ROLE AS A GUEST BECAUSE OF YOU, WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT THIS?

"When I knew that he accepted this offer for me so I felt very happy. We've worked in "Khuda Gawa" and many movies together. His working techniques and style can't be change ever. Neither the age can't even affect his working style."

ACTRESSES FROM 1970 TO 1980 HAVE ADMITTED IN 'RAJYA SABAH', DO YOU INTEND TO BE A MEMBER OF THAT?

"Oh good! I can't get in there because It's not for me and I don't feel right for that. I won't be like to work because my colleague did that for me. I'm just an actor and I wish to become homemaker only."

IS IT TRUE THAT YOU AND MADHURI DIXIT COULDN'T WORK TOGETHER BECAUSE SHE TOOK YOUR PLACE AFTER YOUR WEDDING. DID YOU LEAVE THE INDUSTRY FOR THAT REASON?

"I didn't ever get upset from Madhuri Dixit, It's just the false statement of some writers. I think everyone has their own place in the industry so why would I be upset from anyone."

YOU SAID IN AN INTERVIEW THAT YOUR PLACE CAN'T BE TAKEN BY ANYONE, DO YOU STILL AGREE WITH THAT?

'Did I really say that, I don't remember anything about it because I can't talk like that. Yes! If someone else would say that so I would be happy. I think everyone has their own acting style and place can be taken by anyone by her efforts."

WHO CAN BE THE NEXT SRIDEVI OF BOLLYWOOD ACCORDING TO YOU?

"You ask this question to filmmakers because they know it better. It's hard to say when actresses like Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra are on the lead. Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor can't be compared. Though, I like Sonam Kapoor as an actress very much."

DO YOU STILL WATCH YOUR OLD MOVIES AND DO YOU FEEL ASHAMED FROM ANY OF THEM?

"I'm not fond of past and I don't watch my old movies though when changing T.V channels my movie comes so I watch it anyway. I don't feel ashamed on any of my movie. It happened sometime I watched my scene so I thought that when did I do this scene but I didn't think that how and why I did that scene."

DO YOU THINK TODAY'S ACTRESSES ARE LIKE TO SHOW THEIR BODIES AS COMPARED TO OLD ONES?

"It all depends on character, whatever the roll will be actress will try to do it. For example, Vidya Balan did her best in "The Dirty Picture" because If you watch that movie so you'll see Silk Sameta in hercharacter."

 YOUR DAUGHTERS JHANVI AND KUSHI ARE THE CHILDREN OF FAMOUS SUPERSTARS. WILL THEY BECOME A PRODUCER IN FUTURE?

"Jhanvi loves to wear stylish clothes, whenever she goes she looks different. I can't say which field she will choose. She likes to write and she watches lots of movies. She talks about film's script and story with her father most of the time. Though, It can't be said what would she choose in future, she can be an actress, a writer, producer or go in production field. If you ask me as a mother so I will like that my daughters would go to their home. But Boney doesn't want to forbid anything on them. That's why I can't stop them, If they will choose acting line so I will help them."

WILL YOU WANT TO BE AWARE ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING MOVIES?

"Obviously! I don't want to take loads of movies because I can't work in many movies. So, I would like to work with my chosen film and character only. I will prefer those roles which will give me happiness."

LAST QUESTION IS, HOW LONG WE'LL HAVE TO WAIT FOR 'MR. INDIA' SEQUEL? WILL WE ABLE TO SEE 'MISS HAWA HAWAII' ONE MORE TIME ON THE BIG SCREEN? 

"This is the only matter which I can talk without Boney's permission. 'Mr. India 2' is really being made. It's script has been writing but cast haven't been decided yet. One thing is true that film will make and must
make."
