REENA KAGTI TO 'TALAASH' TILL THE END

Hi users, It's me fahad and I've come up with th new valuable post for you and this is about Reema Kagti who has recently directed film Talaash. Let's find out how did she manage to make this movie and what problems did she face?


Is it true that Aamir Khan is the reason of Talaash delaying?

That would be wrong to say because if media finds trouble releasing the movie so it can the problem of underwater shoots. We couldn't find this arrangements here as we wanted so we had to go to London, where I faced an incident and we all had to wait!  When films first cut was ready so I wasn't agreed with the final result so I cancelled all of those and started from the beginning. Aamir's show 'Satya Myu Jete" incident was out of our mind. We can't blame anyone because incidents occur suddenly.

Has Talaash been released on the date you wanted to release?

I finished Talaash during our promotion. Film's first print was released on 8 November, 2012. Before this I was working myself. A film which you release after your full satisfaction so It goes better for all.

What kinds of films impress you?

I was raised in boarding school so I see the world by different way. I debuted my films in Bollywood as B grade and after time I've improved my films. I liked Amitabh Bachchan's film Mr. Natwarlal in my childhood a lot. I remember correctly that I used to pull my mother's sari pallu and implored her watch me this movie. I was so impressed from film Sholay.

Amir doesn't persuade easily for the film, how did you manage to convince him for your film?

When I first offered Aamir film's script so he pretty liked it and then I thought that Aamir is convinced! Actually I and Zoya considered Aamir while writing the script and we only wanted to make this movie with Aamir. When we completed the script, Aamir was so busy in his shooting of film Ghajini and he wasn't giving us time to meet. We wanted to start this movie early and that's why we went to other actors but nobody was agree to do it. Then after one and a half year, we told the script to Aamir, then Aamir called me and Zoya at his house and after a long meeting, he convinced.

It was the time once when Saleem Jawed pair was so famous in Bollywood and now you and Zoya are like them. What do you say about this?

Zoya is so educated than me in writing side. The moment where I get empty Zoya takes the lead and vice versa. We write our notes differently and when we finish so we combine our notes and actors. That's how we develop our story and we improve the work by the sense of audience. Saleem Jawed's work is so typical and they're legends beside I and Zoya are fresh.

How tough is to directing a film when you're a writer?

Yes, when I was directing Honeymoon travels private limited, I felt that writing is easy instead of filming. I've worked with many top makers as an assistant but I didn't learn the film making techniques. Though, I know what to film and what not during the writing. When I film my writing so I don't face any trouble but sometimes it feels that I have taken the locations and suitable characters wrongly.

You've been attached with 'Excel Entertainment' for a long time, why don't you work with other organization?

When I used to be an assistant, till then I know excel  and I've worked with many top directors. I didn't sign any contract with them but I like the company of Farhan and Ritesh. I think their thinking of way is same as me. Life is the name of relations and where you get relations so why will you leave it. I love it here in excel!

You must have pressurized by the other productions while directing second film 'Talaash' as a director?

I'm small though but I do my work very strictly, what I decide to do, I do that only. I don't back off. Talaash is the story of sadness and loss, which we've dissolved in a Hindi film. I'm so happy with Farhan, Aamir and Ritesh because they all agreed with me and they all did their hard for the film.

Is it right that music director Ram Sampath was hired on the saying of Aamir?

After knowing the film subject, Aamir met me with Sampath. We all were considering on different music directors, then Aamir thought of Ram ji and he gave me his phone number. When I met Ram so I realized that we both had same level. Talaash song didn't have any item song because it all songs describe the story of the film. If you'll leave a song in film so it will affect the movie and suspense will be over! Only a routine music director could do that so we called Ram Sampath and he made us all proud!

What challenges you faced during the shooting of Talaash?

Audience doesn't understand that film is suspense full movie or it's a thriller film. Usually, people thinks thriller and suspense are one thing but in Talaash, you'll find the difference. My film has a lots of suspense but don't have thrill and it also has loads of emotions. After all it's a dramatic movie and people will remember it for long.

How did you feel working with actress like Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee?

When you've suitable actors so understand you've won the half war. Rani and Kareena both have different approach but they have the ability to deep in the character. I can say as a director that my crew members and stars are the real success of my film. You just have to give Rani and Kareena a scene and they will perform it just the way you wanted.

You've a good understanding with Farhan, will you direct a movie with him?

I've tried many times to direct him but he doesn't meet. He's giving his time in 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' and I think this time I will catch him. I and Zoya both like to work with Farhan because he's so friendly. When I used to be an assistant director so I called Farhan in my ample time and he used to crack a lot of jokes and made me laugh!

What do you intend to find after Talaash?

I'm working on two script at once and I tell you I won't have time for that. I'll start my next film after the six of Talaash. Second script is for Zoya and she'll direct it.

What inspiration could a film maker take for stories?

I won't talk about others but I pick out my stories from newspapers and TV shows. Today is the century of live stories. The stronger your observation will be, the better you will present to audience.

I've heard that Talaash was first offered to Shah Rukh Khan instead of Aamir Khan?

I've told you that Zoya and I write different scripts, that's why we thought of Shah Rukh Khan first but when Aamir took so much time to read the script so we went to other actors. But that doesn't mean that Aamir wasn't our first choice. Aamir was my first Talaash for the film Talaash and I'm happy to end Talaash with Aamir Khan.

Police officer roles are getting very popular in film industry, Aamir's role in Talaash film is also being compared with Dabangg and Rowdy Rathore?

Dabangg and Rowdy Rathore gave life to a police officer on the Indian cinema but Talaash police officer is completely different from them.
