Actor Pankaj Kapoor has spent his 30 years in the line of acting, dramas, television and films. His son Shahid Kapoor has really succeeded to make his career in Bollywood film industry. Let talk Pankaj and know what does he feel about his son Shahid.
You've wonderfully done the role of Matru, you haven't showed you this side to audience before?
I didn't do this kind of role because I wasn't offered one. Vishal is the one who coaxed me to do this role, he encouraged me and I got able to do this role.
Do you think that you're the reason of Shahid's success?
When Shahid got his film film so he asked me to come with me but I denied and said that it is your time to face the challenges now.
Do you think about Shahid's marriage?
I don't pressure Shahid to get married. I've given Shahid full authority to take decisions of his life but I wait for the day when he will come 'Here is the girl I want to marry.' When he'll marry so I'll take the full charge of his wedding because It's my responsibility to stand with him.
Your directional debut didn't do any magic on the box-office, did it effect you to not try again?
I don't give up ever. I'll still try to make another film soon.
Do you have any intention to bring your children in the film industry?
Yes, I'll make my both daughter and son star. They're both fond of acting and soon they'll be seen in films too. I'll treat them the same thing as I did with Shahid.
You never tried to be a star, do we think that you avoid becoming a star?
I had a chance to become famous in Karamchand (1980's TV series) but I couldn't handle it. I chose to live freely because if I would have become an actor so I couldn't have lived a normal life for myself. Being a star you've to sit at your house because if you go outside people gather all around you and that i can't tolerate. What I've done i'm happy with that.
Do you still find a place in Indian television today?
Today television programs have gone out of way. I feel sad when i watch today's drama and shows. I'm happy that I became the part of television when it was needed.
Are you getting new scripts?
I'm getting lot of scripts and i"m concerning on which to choose.
What will you say about Imran and Anushka, after working them in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola?
They're good at their work. They respect their co-star and I liked this thing a lot in both of them.
