YASH CHOPRA: BOLLYWOOD'S MOST BIGGEST FILMMAKER (EPISODE 2)

Though Yash Chopra has many friends but from the year 1970, he had some close friends. In which one was Devan Verma who had been doing small roles in Yash's films. Second is Shishi Kapoor who worked in Yash Chopra films for 20 years. Yash has been in contact with him until his death. But there was a person who was so close to Yash ji was Kadhi Chadha. Kadhi was like a family member in Yash family. Kadhi met Yash in 1965 at England, where he went to release his film 'Waqt'. Kadhi remained Yash's best friend until his death. They both talked on the phone daily. When Yash went to London so he stayed at Kadhi's house and when Kadhi came to Mumbai so he stayed at Yash's house. Kadhi also opened his eyes in Lahore like Yash Chopra, obtained education in Lahore but Kadhi went to London and he had made his residence there. He was a wealthiest businessman. He never showed his wealth to anyone. Kadhi's wife name is Bina. They lived in London's city Hampsted. This house was Yash's second house. Yash Chopra had a different opinion about friendship: "It's not necessary that friendship has reason. It is like love which doesn't do but it happens itself. This is how friendship also happens itself. Kadhi didn't have any relation with film industry but still we are best friends. We can do anything for each other. If one of us asks something to do so we can't deny." Yash contribution and his dedication to the film industry made him so famous. Yash got many friends because of his hard work in industry. Yash used to say about film industry, "It is the world where no one can be your friend for long. My studio "Yash Raj Films" is managed by Sanjeev Kohli. I count on him. Lawyer Mahin is working with me since 40 years. He's also my company's important person. Besides it, my cameraman K.J Gorey Gaonkar, poet Sahir Ladhianvi and singer Lata Mangeshkar are my old pals. I've spent a long time in film industry but still I've only got 6 friends.
                                          I consider myself lucky because nature has been so kind on me. There was a time when I didn't have money to buy a ticket to watch a movie in cinema hall. Today, I'm known to be the biggest filmmaker of Bollywood film industry. Bollywood itself is the biggest film industry." After getting this fame, Yash didn't change his personality. He had his image like a middle class Punjabi possesses. Yash remained simple and sober throughout his whole life. He didn't even drink beer ever while having this image in film industry. He didn't even drink tea or coffee. People hardly believed on that. Though, he offered drink to his guest and he also showed women drinking in his films but he laughed on these scenes. He didn't give any opinion to somebody else's life neither he interfered in someone's life. He managed himself with the time. Yash Chopra's family background wasn't that simple at all. He belonged to a Punjab's Khatri Hindu family. They were also the member of Arya's party, which stabilize the whole environment. The British took control of five Punjab's river in 1849 after two big wars between British and Sikhs. Yash Chopra's father was in British's government service. Whereas, Yash's elder brother gained his education in British institutions. After that he came in print media. He came into film industry through print media. Yash called him middle class after getting all this fame. Yash own words are, "I don't waste money. I'm middle class because of this. Though, money and class doesn't describe you. Family background is important. No matter, how much wealth I gain but I'll always be a middle class. I like to be in touch with every cast, I can't live my life without it." When Dehli separated from Punjab so Lahore became the place of social activities. Though, Lahore situated in western Punjab and most of it population was Muslims. But every kind of people were lived here because this has been the favorite city of Mughals, and also had been the place of kingdom of Ranjit Singh which was developed in 1799.
                                         Yash's family real place of living was Jhalandar but they had to switch to many places because of his father's job. Jhalandar had most populated of Hindus and Sikhs. Like millions of families, Yash's family also faced destruction after the division of Hindustan and Punjab. After division, Yash family came back to eastern Punjab.... and then Mumbai. Yash was influenced by Punjab very much and he used to proud on him to be a Punjabi influence. Yash Chopra didn't remember anything about any older men but his father and grandfather. His father name was Lal Wilaiti Raj Chopra. He called 'wilaiti' because he was white and his eyes was blue so he was used to called 'wilaiti' means British. Raj got Urdu and Farsi education, because of that he got a job in government's public works department (PWD). He had many transfer during his job and he got a chance to live in AmarTasar, Ferozpur and Lahore. They lived in Lahore when Yash born. Wialiti went to Bengal to do private job after retirement. Where he passed away in an accident in 1946. B.R Chopra was far away when it happened. He reached when everything was over. Yash had a severe fever during that. He knew about his father's death after some days. Yash has words, "My father used to say that man who wakes up before the sun rises, he has more time to work and that's how he achieves what others can't do. I wake up daily at 6 am. I walk for one hour. I see the sun rises during walking. Human gets fresh by the morning walk." Yash also says that he was raised at the place where practical was counted besides just talking. Yash once said, "My father used to say that giving opinions to others is useless. Show yourself by making yourself an example." B.R Chopra was 18 years younger than Yash. That's why he was like his father after his father's death. Yash's mother Draupadi died in 1979. She was also the most important person in Yash's life. Though, she was a simple woman who didn't know how to speak English. She was able to read names in Urdu and Hindi but she wasn't that weaker. She had a great memory  and she was a wonderful story teller.
