February 2012's Oscars may not be important for Pakistani's but most of the Pakistani's got shocked when they knew that Sharmeed Obaid Chinoi has been chosen for the Oscar award for her documentary film. It was a great event for the Pakistani's to nominate for a film. Pakistani people shocked when Sharmeen Obaid was nominated for the Oscar award for her documentary film "Saving Face".
What is the purpose of the movie?
Sharmeen Obaid's documentary film "Saving Face" purpose to show those women whom faces are damaged by throwing acid on their faces and most of their body parts are burnt to make them ugly. What kinds of troubles they face, if they stay alive so what problems they face and how do they spend their lives, all of these have been shown in the movie. Ruksana and Zakia are the main character in it.
Film's influences
There are 200 of women every year have been made ugly by throwing acid on their faces and only 50 percent of culprit are arrested for this whereas all of them get away. None of the reason is behind this but men throw acid on them to teach women a lesson. Pakistani British plastic surgeon Muhammad Jawwad has been shown in this film. Who travels around many places of Pakistan to help those women, who face this kinds of problems.
Last year it was decided in Pakistan's parliament to sentence for 14 years and 10 lac rupees fine to that person who will throw poison on a woman but it hasn't been obeyed any where in Pakistan. Since after Sharmeen has highlighted this in her documentary so it can be believe that sentence will be obeyed now.
Who is Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy?
She was born in Pakistan's city Karachi in 1978 and she obtained her primary education in Karachi grammar. school. After then she went to America for further education. She was the first girl to get studied in foreign county in her family. But her parents didn't agree with her so she persuaded them by not eating anything until they agreed with her. She got Bachelor's degree in Economics from America's Smith college and she also obtained master degree in "International Policy Studies and Communication" from Stanford University. She started her career writing different English subjects. When she came back to Pakistan after 9/11 so she saw Afghan kids looking for trash on the roads. So she went to their campuses where she knew many of the problems of Afghan Muhajirs. So she decided to make a documentary on that topic. Like this her movie career began but the most amazing thing is that she didn't take any lessons or teaching about directing of making a movie. Smith college and New York Times Television helped her in this and also donated her for the film. She has made 14 documentaries till now which have been broadcasted on different T.V channels. Sharmeen got married in 2004. She has only one daughter who is only 18 months old now. Her husband is a businessman.. Sharmeen has three sisters and one small brother. She has both of Pakistan's and America's nationality.

Sharmeen has won many awards for her movies and now she has won the biggest award of all awards the Oscar award. She is the first Pakistani personality to win Oscar Award. She has also won Overseas Press Club award, American Woman Award, Asian Journalist Association Award, Radio and Television award, Special Jewery Award in the festival of BANFF in Canada, Cine Golden Eagle Award. Sharmeen has won "Journalist of the Year award" in one world media award in 2007.
What will happen, when Sharmeen will come back to Pakistan?
She will be given many thankful and honor when she will come back to Pakistan. After hearing her winning Oscar Award, Pakistan's prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has announced to give her "Super Civil Award" and MQM president Altaf Hussain has announced to give her gold medal.
